Experimental Book Design: 3deluxe Monograph from 2002-2008
"3deluxe - Transdisciplinary Approaches to Design" not only serves as an inspiring retrospective of five years of creative work but also as a graphical and literary expression of our interdisciplinary design approach. Essays by external authors enrich the design discourse.
The spectrum of the presented works ranges from well-known integrative design projects like the multi-media theme world 'Cyberhelvetia' and the club and corporate design for Sven Väth's 'CocoonClub', over events or exhibitions for the FIFA 2006 World Cup to the 'Leonardo Glass Cube' corporate architecture. Pure graphic projects like the award-winning Zanders Calendar 'Space Of Time' or brand communication projects which amalgamate graphic, motion and web design demonstrate the creative and thematic diversity of our work.
To appropriately represent our interdisciplinary design approach, the projects are not categorised in a conventional way according to disciplines. The chapter structure rather evolves from seven design principles, which have been developed intuitively in years of multidisciplinary teamwork and characterise all of our designs to a different degree.
Additionally, the monograph features essays by renowned guest authors whose sources of inspiration were the 3deluxe-specific design approaches - free of explicit references to the projects, the texts cast a new light on our working methods and broaden the creative discourse beyond the context of design practice:
